If you already have substantial prior research experience and at least a university Master’s degree in a discipline related to clinical medicine and public health, consider our two-year, Nihes Summer School training programme. This training programme leads to the award of a Master of Science degree in Health Sciences by Erasmus University Rotterdam (*).
This part-time training programme consists of six course periods: three summer sessions, two winter/spring sessions and a fall session. The research project may be conducted at your home institution (**) under the joint guidance of a local supervisor and the Nihes tutor.
Applications for the 2010/11 academic year must be received before March 1, 2010.

RESEARCH: August 2010 – 2012
2.5 ECTS
The research training starts with formulating a research question and writing a research proposal. This proposal should include, among other things, the research objectives, the study design, the data-collection and the data-analysis procedure, and your time schedule. The research topic you choose, will determine the department or research group you will be assigned to and where you will be carrying out your research project.
34.7 ECTS
You will start working on your research project after approval of your proposal by your personal tutor. This tutor is a senior staff member at one of the departments/research groups participating in Nihes who will supervise you during your research period; you will write a scientific paper under his or her guidance. You are required to present your project to the department/research group of your tutor. This presentation should take place at least three weeks before graduating. Your paper must be approved by your tutor at the beginning of June and should be suitable for submission to an international, scientific journal.
Graduation Ceremony
Graduation takes place at the end of August. You can graduate only if the final assessment of your performance is sufficient. You assessment will be based on the examination marks of the courses you attended (50%) and on the quality of your scientific paper (50%).
