Career perspectives

Our programmes prepare you for research, executive and advisory positions in public health, clinical medicine, drug research, and health-policy development. They also provide an excellent opportunity to increase your chances to qualify for a PhD research project.
PhD projects are intended for those who wish to pursue a leading career in research. It spans one to two years. During this period, participants work towards the writing and defending of a thesis. Those who successfully complete the research project are awarded a PhD degree. Please note that Nihes does NOT offer PhD positions, however, the institutes participating in or affiliated with the Netherlands Institute for Health Sciences might. Of course, eligibility depends entirely on your academic background, the qualifications required and the PhD positions available. For more information, please contact the department or research group of your choice directly.

We keep in touch with many of our alumni and they regularly share their professional and personal news with us. For example: Omer Njajou, Bridget-Anne Kirwan, Boris Pfeiffer, Evelien Yap, Sajeesh Kumar and Hans Moet. Read about their careers and experiences, and those of many more Nihes alumni!
