Housing

key.jpg
For international students, Nihes has made housing arrangements with the Housing Desk of the Erasmus University Rotterdam, because finding an affordable place to stay in the city center of Rottedam on your own is often quite a challenge. The Netherlands is a crowded country and most of the higher education institutes are located in the middle of cities and have little or no student housing of their own. Finding a room will require time, effort and patience.

The Housing Desk has a wide variety of furnished accommodation available. Prices of student housing vary from €300 to €650 per month; a room with shared facilities including kitchen and bathroom cost between €300 and €460, an individual unit between €400 and €650. Prices for private apartments range from €650 to €1,250. Housing preferences (e.g. the type of accommodation, your preferred price range, and whether or not you will be accompanied by family, etc.) can be stated on the accommodation request form you will receive upon admission.

News: As of June 2009, a limited number of furnished and reasonably priced rooms will be available in the immediate vicinity of Erasmus MC University Medical Center.

Terms of rent
Accommodation can only be rented per full calendar month. A deposit is asked in advance. This is about 1.5 times the rental charged per calendar month, and is restituted upon your departure.

International students who would like to arrange their accommodation through Nihes, are required to pay the housing deposit of €900 to Nihes before 1 May 2010. The deposit will be reimbursed as soon as you have handed in or sent in a copy of your rental agreement at the Nihes Office.

Accommodation is guaranteed only if your request is received before 1 May 2010. Information on how to request housing will be provided upon admission.
