When coming from abroad, you are required to take out a medical and health insurance.
Entering the Netherlands

Medical and health insurance |
You may also need a visa to enter the Netherlands and/or temporary residence permit to live and study in the Netherlands. Nihes will assist you in these matters, provided you have successfully finalised your registration and you have met all requirements and conditions first.
A visa is an authorisation for temporary stay in the form of a sticker affixed to a passport or other travel document and is issued by the Dutch Embassy in your home country. Nihes will help you to apply for an authorization for temporary stay (a Machtiging tot voorlopig verblijf or MVV in Dutch). Upon admission, you will receive detailed information about how to start the visa application procedure; it will take approximately 6 weeks. DO NOT START THE VISA APPLICATION PROCEDURE YOURSELF! This can lead to serious delays.
If you need a temporary residence permit (a Verguning tot Voorlopig Verblijf or VTV in Dutch), you will receive full details on how to obtain it upon registration at the Nihes Office in the first week of your programme.
