Erasmus University Medical Center Rotterdam has been selected by the European Commission’s Education, Audiovisual and Culture Executive Agency (EACEA) to lead a partnership of 11 universities centered on the Western Balkan region. Under the framework of the Erasmus Mundus External Cooperation Window (ECW), this partnership will foster cooperation, and ensure the exchange of students and academic staff between EU Member States and countries in the Western Balkans. Dedicated to study, teaching, training and research in medicine and the health sciences, it will involve five universities in EU countries and six in the Western Balkans.

Under the auspices of the Oswaldo Cruz Foundation (FIOCRUZ), leaders of Brazil’s top medical schools agreed with the Science Director of the Netherlands Institute for Health Sciences (NIHES) to launch the NIHES-Brazil Knowledge Platform. The initiative aims to foster research talent – not only in academia, government and industry, but also in people who might otherwise be left behind.

Read on…At its 2011 Graduation Ceremony on September 2, the Netherlands Institute for Health Sciences (NIHES) celebrated 86 graduates in medicine and the health sciences. The graduates came from 17 countries, and included 23 participants in ERACOL, an EU-funded Partnership Programme supported by six universities in Latin America and five in Europe. NIHES and ERACOL are both led by Erasmus University Medical Center Rotterdam.

First three students from Fudan University Graduate from Erasmus MC
Rotterdam (Netherlands) - August 28, 2009: The first three students from the medical faculty of Zhongshan Hospital Fudan University in Shanghai graduated from Erasmus University Rotterdam’s Erasmus MC as Masters of Science in Clinical Epidemiology. The three – Qian Gu, Ningping Zhang and Yuanzhi Yuan – are the first three graduates from Fudan’s medical faculty to mark the joint-venture agreement signed by Erasmus and Fudan Universities in 2006.
