Programme outline Public Health

Our Master of Science in Health Sciences, specialization Public Health, can be attended full-time or part-time. In the latter case, research may be conducted at your home institution(*) under the joint guidance of a local supervisor and the Nihes tutor.

The research project starts after the first summer session and is spread over two academic years. The supervisor at the home institution must be well-qualified, and you and your tutors should have good access to modern means of communication, including the possibilities for exchange of data and analysis of data through network systems. The home institution should provide a suitable environment for carrying out epidemiological research and usually carries the research costs.

The one-year programme (13 months) starts with the Erasmus Summer Programme at the beginning of August. The first semester runs from August until mid December; re-examinations are scheduled as from the second week of January. The second semester starts in February and runs until the end of August.

Public Health (one-year, full-time)
The programme outline of the two-year, part-time programme is based on the full-time curriculum and will be determined in consultation with the programme coordinator.

Master graduates and health professionals being citizens of the European Economic Area (EEA) are eligible to apply for the MSc in Clinical Epidemiology programme as well as for exemptions from the course programme of the two-year full time variants. Such exemptions are subject to be formally granted by Nihes. Applicants must prove a sufficient level of research experience and/or education. For eligible candidates the same annual fees apply as they do for Dutch and EEA citizens following a Master of Science programme for Bachelor graduates and medical students.
